The Washington Redskins have signed former New England Patriots nose tackle Ron Brace, the team announced Thursday.

Brace, 6 feet 3 inches tall and 330 pounds, was the 40th overall pick in the 2009 draft. He struggled to catch on in New England’s 4-3 defensive scheme and had his best success as a defensive end when the team ran a 3-4, per ESPN’s Mike Reiss.

The 26-year-old Boston College product played in 10 games for New England last season prior to being released on Dec. 29. He recorded four tackles during that stretch.

In 39 career appearances, Brace has recorded 39 tackles with a forced fumble. He has not started a game since 2010.
