WASHINGTON (FNN Media) — The Washington Redskins and Will Montgomery have agreed to terms on a new four-year contract.
The 29-year-old center was scheduled to become a free agent next month.
Montgomery was an anchor on a Redskins offensive line decimated by injuries in 2011. He started every game last season.
He joined the team in 2008 following two brief stints with the New York Jets.
Montgomery was initially drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the seventh round of the 2006 draft out of Virginia Tech.
Financial terms of the deal were not immediately available.
Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan was first to report news of Montgomery’s signing.
In other Redskins news, wide receiver Leonard Hankerson revealed he underwent surgery to repair a torn hip labrum this week.
