The San Francisco 49ers announced on Monday the signing of DT Tony Jerod-Eddie.
Jerod-Eddie (6-5, 301) starred at Texas A&M, where he played in 51 games (38 starts) for the Aggies and produced 148 tackles, 14.5 TFLs, 7.0 sacks, two fumble recoveries and one forced fumble. A second-team All-Big 12 pick in 2011, he set career highs in tackles (56), TFLs (7.0), sacks (5.0) and forced fumbles (1). Jerod-Eddie earned honorable mention All-Big 12 honors as a junior, as he started all 13 games and posted 49 tackles, 2.5 TFLs and one blocked kick. In 2009, he recorded 23 tackles, 2.0 TFLs, 1.0 sack and one fumble recovery. During his freshman campaign, Jerod-Eddie posted 20 tackles, 3.0 TFLs, 1.0 sack, one fumble recovery and one blocked kick.
A 22-year-old native of DeSoto, TX, Jerod-Eddie was a two-time first-team all-district defensive line pick (District 8-5A), earned honorable mention 5A all-state honors by the Associated Press and Texas Sports Writer’s Association at DeSoto (TX) HS.
