The San Francisco 49ers today announced they have signed CB Darcel McBath to a one-year contract.

McBath (6-1, 198) was originally a second round draft pick by the Denver Broncos in the 2009 NFL Draft. In that span, he has played in 21 games (1 starts), tallying 28 tackles, two interceptions, and four passes defensed. McBath was released by the Broncos on 9/4/11 and later signed by the Jacksonville Jaguars on 12/12/11. The Jaguars released him this offseason on 4/23/12.

A 27-year-old native of Gainesville, TX, McBath starred collegiately at Texas Tech where he earned first-team All-Big 12 Conference honors in 2008. During his senior season, he registered 75 tackles (55 solo), forced a fumble and broke up seven passes. McBath also led the Big 12 and tied for third in the NCAA with seven interceptions, equaling a school season-record with two returns for touchdowns. McBath was a teammate of current 49ers WR Michael Crabtree at Texas Tech for three seasons. His position coach with the Broncos (2009-10) was current 49ers secondary coach Ed Donatell.
