In a surprising move, free agent wide receiver Reggie Wayne will return to the Indianapolis Colts.
A report by Adam Schefter, Wayne and the Colts came to an agreement on a three-year deal Tuesday evening. Profootballtalk.com reported the deal was valued at $17.5 million.
Earlier in the day the Colts lost wide receiver Pierre Garcon, 25, when he signed a six-year, $42.5 million contract with the Washington Redskins.
Many thought with Manning gone that Wayne would follow his former quarterback. In 2011, the five-time Pro Bowler still excelled even as Manning missed the entire season after neck surgery. Wayne had 75 receptions for 960 yards and four touchdowns.
Somewhere Andrew Luck breathed a sigh of relief.
