WASHINGTON (FNN Media) — The Washington Redskins officially announced they claimed cornerback Morgan Trent off waivers from the Jacksonville Jaguars and waived Leigh Torrence to make room for him on the roster.

Trent was originally drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the sixth-round of the 2009 NFL Draft out of Michigan. In 36 career games he has recorded 59 tackles, three interceptions, one sack and 11 passes defensed.

He bounced around the league last season, spending the first eight weeks of the year in Cincinnati before he was claimed off waivers by the Indianapolis Colts where he played one game before being waived again.

Later that month he signed with the Jaguars where he spent the remainder of the season, appearing in five games where he recorded two interceptions in two starts.

Torrence, 30, was signed by the Redskins on April 10 following three seasons with the New Orleans Saints. He previously played for Washington from 2006-08.
