Redskins Kicker Competition: Gano And Rackers Will Probably Battle Until Final Cuts

The Washington Redskins kicking competition between Graham Gano and Neil Rakers probably won't be resolved until the final roster cuts of the preseason.

ASHBURN, Va. (CBSDC) — The Washington Redskins kicking competition between Graham Gano and Neil Rakers probably won’t be resolved until the final roster cuts of the preseason.

Head coach Mike Shanahan said the team signed Rackers for a reason.

Gano has thrived on competition at the position since joining the team. Five of Gano’s 10 missed field goals in 2011 were the result of blocked kicks.

Shanahan touted Rackers’ track record while addressing the media following at the conclusion of Tuesday’s workouts at Redskins Park.
