The Baltimore Ravens defeated the New England Patriots in thrilling fashion 31-30 as time expired.
With the Patriots leading 20-14 at the half the Ravens defense was able to contain Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and his receiving corp throughout the entire second half.
Brady picked apart a shaky secondary finishing the game 28-of-41 for 335 yards and one touchdown. New England receiver Wes Welker led the Patriots with 8 catches for 142 yards.
The Ravens offense answered back at the beginning of the second half and grabbed the lead 21-20 when running back Ray Rice capped of an 8 play, 80-yard drive with a 7-yard rushing touchdown.
Playing with a heavy heart after the loss of his brother earlier in the day wide receiver Torrey Smith had a solid night. Smith, who shocked many by playing, caught 6 passes for 127 yards and two touchdowns despite dealing with double coverage for most of the game.
With the Ravens trailing 30-28 late in fourth quarter quarterback Joe Flacco led a game winning drive with just under two minutes remaining in the game. Flacco drove the Ravens on an impressive 8 play, 70 yard to set up a 27 yard field goal by rookie Justin Tucker.
Flacco finished the night 28-of-39 for 382 yards and three touchdowns and one interception.
