In a wild finish at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, the Ravens defeated the Dallas Cowboys 31-29 on Sunday.
The Ravens defense failed to seal the game in the final minutes of the fourth quarter allowing Tony Romo to find Dez Bryant for a 4-yard touchdown pass. The Cowboys were unable to convert the two point conversion leaving Dallas to rely on an onside kick.
Baltimore veteran special teams ace Brendon Ayanbadejo failed to recover the kick and the Cowboys recovered. After a short run by Felix Jones to set Dallas up for the winning field goal, however kicker Dan Bailey missed the 51-yard kick.
Baltimore’s offense clicked on all cylinders throughout the afternoon. Quarterback Joe Flacco made several key throws in the second half. Flacco finished the day17-of-26, 234 yards passing and one touchdown. Running back Ray Rice had another solid game keeping the Ravens drives alive. Rice rushed for 63 yards and two touchdowns.
The Ravens defense was shelled all afternoon. The Cowboys running game shredded the Ravens defense for over 227 yards rushing. Dallas running backs DeMarco Murray and Felix Jones combined for 185 rushing yards and one touchdown. Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo found huge holes in the Ravens secondary the entire second half. Faced with several third and longs Romo found trusty tight end Jason Witten and receiver Dez Bryant for huge conversions.
Romo finished his afternoon 25-of-36, 261 passing yards, two touchdowns and one interception.
The injury bug struck several Ravens on the day. Cornerback LarDarius Webb suffered a likely season ending ACL injury, Ray Lewis suffered a triceps injury and Haloti Ngata tweaked his knee. More information will be released as it becomes available later this week.
The Ravens improved to 5-1 on the year and will head to Houston to take on the Texans next Sunday.
