PHILADELPHIA (FNN Media) — The Philadelphia Eagles signed Trent Edwards to a one year contract on Thursday.
Edwards was cut by the Oakland Raiders following training camp in 2011 and spent last season out of football.
He last took a regular season snap in 2010 with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Edwards was a third round pick of the Buffalo Bills in 2007.
“He’s a guy that we liked and we saw him out there and we thought maybe he would be a good fit,” said Eagles General Manager Howie Roseman, per the team website. “He’s a guy who has had success in the NFL. He’s started in this league, had won and has also had some adversity. When we see a guy out on the street that we think has some ability, we’ll bring him in and we’ll take a look and he knows nothing is promised in this game.”
