Philadelphia Eagles tight end Brent Celek underwent surgery to repair a sports hernia and torn labrum on Wednesday.

The surgery caught many off-guard as Celek had not been a regular on the team’s injury report throughout the season and showed no signs of limitations in game situations.

There is a chance Celek suffered the injuries it the team’s season finale against the Washington Redskins last Sunday, but no mention was made of any ailments suffered by the tight end.

The two surgical repairs were made during a single procedure.
