KNOXVILLE (FNN Media) — When the Peyton Manning sweepstakes began the Tennessee Titans weren’t even mentioned. Now, it appears they are the front-runners to land the former Indianapolis Colts quarterback.
Manning worked out for the team in Knoxville on Saturday and from all accounts things went well.
“This morning we traveled to Knoxville and had a workout with Peyton,” said Titans GM Ruston Webster. “I thought he looked comfortable throwing the ball and we had a good visit. This is another important step in the process.”
Shortly after the team distributed those comments on Twitter, a report surfaced from a television producer in the Knoxville area that a press conference hand been called, likely to introduce him as the team’s next quarterback.
However, a team official told me that no such press conference had been scheduled that they were aware of.
