Peyton Manning Confident He’ll Play Again, Getting “Closer And Closer” To Being Ready

Manning said he didn't know where his future in the NFL was going to take him.

INDIANAPOLIS (FNN Media) — Peyton Manning is a free man, having been released by the Indianapolis Colts.

For the first time in 14 NFL seasons Manning is expected to wear a jersey other than the familiar blue and white of the Colts. The question is what jersey will it be.

During his emotional farewell speech in Indianapolis, Manning said he didn’t know where his future in the NFL was going to take him.

Will it be the Washington Redskins? Perhaps the Miami Dolphins? What about the Arizona Cardinals, New York Jets or Seattle Seahawks? Another team maybe?

“I haven’t thought yet about where I’ll play but I have thought a lot about where I’ve been,” he said.

Shortly after his prepared remarks were concluded a reporter asked Manning about his health and whether he was confident about being able to continue playing elsewhere.

“I am confident,” he said. “I’m throwing it pretty well. I’ve still got some work to do, I’ve got some progress to make, but I’ve come a long way. I’ve really worked hard. I can’t tell you the hours and the time I’ve put into working hard.”

A YouTube video recently showed Manning working out on the Duke campus where his arm was showing signs of improvement.

“I’ve had a chance to throw with some of my old teammates, guys like Reggie Wayne, Dallas Clark, Austin [Collie], [Brandon] Stokley,” added Manning. “Even [Jeff] Saturday’s snapped for me a couple times.

“I’m feeling closer and closer.”
