The Oakland Raiders will use their franchise tag on safety Tyvon Branch.

OAKLAND (FNN Media) — The Oakland Raiders will use their franchise tag on safety Tyvon Branch.

The team informed Branch of their plans recently according to Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network.

The 25-year-old has started every game of the past three seasons. In 2011, Branch record 109 tackles and picked off one pass.

The franchise tag designation for a safety carries with it a value of roughly $6.2 million.

UPDATE: The team has reportedly officially placed the tag on Branch.
