The Oakland Raiders announced they re-signed safety Matt Giordano on Monday evening.

OAKLAND (FNN Media) — The Oakland Raiders announced they re-signed safety Matt Giordano on Monday evening.

Giordano, an 8-year veteran out of the University of California, played in 15 games with nine starts last season for the Raiders. He initially signed with the team as a free agent during training camp last year.

In a Nnamdi Asomugha-less secondary, Giordano led the Raiders with five interceptions, including a 62-yarder return in the team’s 16-13 overtime road win against the Kansas City Chiefs on Christmas Eve. He also recorded 70 tackles and a sack, the first of his career.

Prior to joining the Raiders, Giordano spent time with the Indianapolis Colts, Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints.

Terms of the deal were not immediately available.
