The injury bug bit the Washington Redskins in the first quarter of Saturday’s game against the Chicago Bears.

Brian Orakpo sustained a left shoulder injury while trying to make a one-arm tackle on Devin Hester as he was spun around. Washington initially listed his return as questionable, but erred on the side of caution moments later by announcing he would not return.

Orakpo had offseason surgery to repair a partial tear in his left pectoral muscle.

Meanwhile, safety Brandon Meriweather suffered a left knee injury on an 8-yard touchdown run by the Bears’ Michael Bush. He too, did not not return.

CSNWashington announced Meriweather’s injury was a strained left knee.
