The Baltimore Ravens selected linebacker Terrell Suggs as their 2012 Ed Block Courage Award Winner.
Suggs, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year was selected by teammates on Thursday afternoon to receive the prestigious award for sportsmanship and courage.
In late April the Ravens linebacker suffered an Achilles injury and went in for surgery on May 8th with the prognosis that he would miss the entire upcoming season. Just five months and six days after having surgery, Suggs suited up and returned to action against the Houston Texans.
As if Suggs return wasn’t remarkable enough the Ravens star recorded a sack in just his first game back.
The Ed Block Courage Award Foundation is dedicated to improving the lives of abused, neglected and at-risk children and ending the cycle of abuse. The purpose is to raise awareness and prevention of child abuse.
The ceremony honoring players from around the league is held in Baltimore around mid-March.
