Atlanta Falcons: Brent Grimes Has No Plans To Sign Franchise Tag

The Atlanta Falcons have placed their franchise tag on Brent Grimes, who will not sign it.

ATLANTA (FNN Media) — The Atlanta Falcons have placed their franchise tag on Brent Grimes.

Falcons G.M. Thomas Dimitroff announced the tag designation during a Friday morning radio appearance.

The one-year franchise tender would pay Grimes $10.6 million, a substantial increase from the $2.6 million he earned in 2011.

However, Grimes’ agent said his client will not sign the tag.

“We have no plans to sign the tag at this time,” Ben Dogra, Grimes’ agent, told the Atlanta Journal Constitution. “We hope to be able to continue to discuss [through] all the issues at the appropriate time.”
