Washington Redskins running back Alfred Morris, not Robert Griffin III, is nominated for Pepsi Max NFL Rookie of the Week honors for his performance in Week 7.
Morris, a sixth-round draft pick from Florida Atlantic, rushed for 120 yards on 22 carries in Washington’s heartbreaking loss to the New York Giants.
In comparison, Griffin passed for 258 yards with two touchdowns and an interception behind 20-of-28 afternoon.
New England Patriots linebacker Dont’a Hightower (7 tackles, one sack), Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck (16-of-29, 186 yards, 2 touchdowns), Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Doug Martin (85 yards, 1 touchdown) and Minnesota Vikings safety Harrison Smith (5 tackles, interception return for touchdown) were also nominated.
Votes for Rookie of the Week may be cast on NFL.com.
Morris has twice been named 4th & Pain Champion for his rushing efforts this season. That award, given out by teammate Adam Carriker and myself, is named after a radio show of the same name.
The players are given an authentic WWE championship belt to commemorate the occasion (Morris video below).
4th & Pain airs weekdays on 4thAndPain.com and Sunday morning at 8 a.m. on 106.7 The Fan in Washington, D.C.
