Last year’s Oakland Raiders sweep of the Denver Broncos was all the talk in the Mile High City on Wednesday.
Media repeatedly asked players and coaches how last year’s game would affect their mentality for Monday night.
Some have moved on from 2010, others are using it as motivation.
Newly crowned head coach John Fox subscribes to the former for obvious reasons.
“Having not been here, it’s really not that motivating for me as I think it is for the players,” he explained. “It’s Monday night. I think there are a lot of pluses to it, but they’ve got the same motivation.”
Wide receiver Eric Decker is among the Broncos players who have not forgotten the poundings they took from the Raiders last season. Oakland outscored the Broncos by a combined 98-37 in the two games.
“You try to block it out, but obviously it’s still there,” wide receiver Eric Decker said. “We still know that they took it to us right away out of the gates, and that’s something you’ve got to take as motivation. I think this season is honestly a different feeling. Guys are very excited; guys are trusting one another a lot more, and I think that’s just going to show on the field. We’re just excited to get out there against Oakland in Week One and prove what we’ve got.”
For what it’s worth the experts are picking the Broncos to win a close one.
