When the NFL announced the 2011 preseason schedule Tuesday, the San Diego Chargers received a welcome surprise. The team will open their year at home on national television by taking on the Seattle Seahawks on Aug. 11 at 5 p.m. PT.
The game will air on ESPN.
Exact dates and times for the remainder of the Chargers preseason schedule have yet to be determined.
“I think it’s a good mix of teams that we play,” head coach Norv Turner said. “Obviously Seattle and playing in a nationally-televised game, for our young guys, that will be a great experience.”
