Chicago Bears defensive end Julius Peppers was named one of the ten best players in the NFL by his peers.
Peppers represented a significant investment for the Bears, who signed Peppers to a six-year contract worth $91.5 million, with $42 million of that guaranteed in the first three years.
Peppers hasn’t disappointed the Bears after his first season. He was named to the Pro Bowl after his first season in the Windy City and was also named to the All Pro team. He also finished fourth in voting for the NFL’s defensive player of the year award in 2010.
Peppers, who played his first eight seasons in the league in Carolina, came to the Bears after playing his college ball in North Carolina as well. Peppers has 89 sacks and 8 interceptions in his career.
