Welcome to From the Shores of Lake Erie!
I’m Joe Fell, your official Browns blogger. I’m a lifelong Clevelander who can’t imagine living anywhere else. Cleveland may not be the flashiest, most prosperous, or most glamorous city in America, but I think that anyone would be hard-pressed to find a city anywhere else with as many honest, genuine, hard-working residents who are dedicated to working for the greater good of the city and helping others.
As you probably can guess, I’m a diehard Browns fan. I’ve followed the team ardently since the mid-1980′s, when I realized that watching the Browns with my beloved grandpa was more enjoyable and productive than begging him to turn off the game so that I could play Atari 2600 instead. While I don’t remember The Drive and The Fumble, I do remember the days of Bernie Kosar, Eric Metcalf, Brian Brennan (whose autographed picture sits on top of my living room fireplace), and the many other players who made memories and highlights at good old Cleveland Municipal Stadium. I lived through the painful departure of the team to Baltimore and watching the Browns’ first game upon their return in 1999 in my dorm room during my freshman year of college was one of the happiest moments of my life. While their performance since their return to the league may be less successful than most of us had hoped, I believe that Mike Holmgren has finally put the team on the right path and I’m looking forward to an exciting 2011 season.
I look forward to providing you with a steady stream of updates about the Browns, and hopefully all of us can take some time out to talk about the team that we all love. I try to keep up with breaking news, but I’m not perfect, so feel free to hit me up on Twitter at @ClevelandJoe if you’ve got some breaking news or if you just want to chat about the Browns.
Go Browns!
