Producers of HBO’s “Hard Knocks” are still hoping the critically acclaimed series will air this season.
With the NFL lockout seemingly in its final days, the crew for the project are diligently searching for a team to profile when training camp opens.
Much like every other aspect of the league once the lockout is lifted, “Hard Knocks” producers will have to scramble at a feverish pace to pull of the show on short notice.
“We are monitoring developments and remain hopeful of presenting a new season of ‘Hard Knocks,’” HBO spokesman Ray Stallone told Sporting News (via Media Bistro). “Beyond that we are not going to speculate.”
A number of teams have already declined the opportunity to be featured on the show including the Atlanta Falcons, Detroit Lions, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos and Minnesota Vikings. The New York Jets have also turned down an encore appearance.
One has to wonder if the Oakland Raiders would be interested in the series. Secretive by nature, the series would shed a very rare light on the franchise.
Some say Al Davis’ franchise would be a perfect fit. Other feel otherwise.
Al needs money. If someone can convince him that the exposure will produce more revenue for the raiders I think he will do it.
Although a Raiders Hard Knocks might be the best Hard Knocks put on film because of coach Jackson’s taunting ways and all the speed the players have, what makes anybody think that AL Davis would let his team be filmed when the Raiders are the most secretive team in the NFL? lets get real here, the chances of this happening is zero to none. Hard Knocks has a better chance of getting one of the teams that already turned them down. This will never happen as long as AL Davis is alive.
Go raiders! HBO hardknocks & Oakland Raiders would be a perfect fit! When would there ever be another time to take an in depth look at the greatest organization in football history? Give it the green light AL !
