Graham Gano kicked a 59-yard field goal as time expired in the first half to set the Redskins record.

Graham Gano kicked the longest field goal in Washington Redskins history as time ran out in the first half against the San Francisco 49ers.

The 59-yard field goal was the first time the team scored since the fourth quarter against the Carolina Panthers on Oct. 23.

It was a drought of 19 possessions without points on the board.

Gano celebrated as though he won the Super Bowl with his signature point to the sky and fist bumps.

He will certainly take a hit in the media for it this week, but given the criticisms he’s had during his time in the Nation’s Capital and the fact Redskins fans have had little else to cheer about, I say let him celebrate.

It’s warranted.

The fact is he and punter Sav Rocca have been stand outs in an otherwise hum-drum season.
