San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers is a wanted man. Former Oakland Raiders defensive end Jay Richardson wants to hit him and will take joy in doing so.

Why?

Rivers is a talker on the field, which rubs Richardson the wrong way.

The Ohio State product talked about his feelings toward Rivers on his debut broadcast of The JRich Report on the EYES Radio Network and FootballNewsNow.com. He was candid in openly discussing his desire to take down the Bolts leader during a segment with Vittorio Tafur of the San Francisco Chronicle where we made our predictions on how the AFC West will shake out this season.

“I’m not a big Philip Rivers fan, because I think he’s kind of a cocky dude and I’ve had a chance to sack him before and hit him as hard as I can. I’ll do so again if I get another opportunity,” Richardson told Tafur and myself. “But, nothing personal against Philip Rivers. I think he’s still a heck of a quarterback.”

On the broadcast I then jokingly informed Richardson that we had a newspaper reporter on the line with us. But he pressed on.

“This guy is one of the top six quarterbacks in the NFL. He gets that respect from me and a lot of other guys in the league,” Richardson elaborate before bringing the heat again. “Me personally, I just want to him. That’s just me, that’s what I do for a living.”

So why the desire to inflict punishment other than earning a game check?

“I will take a special pleasure in hitting him because he likes to talk during games a little bit,” the former Raider said. “Anybody who has ever watched an NFL game where he’s mic’d up and he’s in it he talks a little bit. But you like guys who are talkers. I’m a talker, so that’s okay.”

Tafur then reminded us Rivers claims he never cussed once in his life and wanted to know if Richardson believed him.

“I didn’t write anything down that he was saying during games . . . all I can say is he talks,” he said. “Now me, personally? Do I think he’s cussed before? Heck yeah. If you ask my opinion I’d have to think a dirty word has slipped out . . . but I can’t say I’ve ever heard him cuss.”

As a free agent Richardson may or may not get the opportunity to face Rivers this season. However, he did express interest in rejoining the Raiders during a segment on the show with current Oakland safety Mike Mitchell.

The JRich Report with Jay Richardson and Chuck Carroll debuts Tuesday at 2 p.m. ET / 11 a.m. PT on the EYES Radio Network and FootballNewsNow.com.
