Former Oakland Raiders receivers coach Charles Coe wants to head back to school… high school.
Coe has applied to become the new head football coach at Gibbs High School in St. Petersburg, Fla. according to the St. Petersburg Times.
He’s one of 65 hopefuls who applied for the job.
He succeeded Fred Biletnikoff as receivers coach in 2007, being hand picked by Al Davis following a successful stint as head coach at Alabama State. His stint at the position would be short lived, however.
Coe was reassigned after just one season because then head coach Lane Kiffin was upset at the lack of progress made by Ronald Curry that year.
Most recently Coe served as head coach at Gateway Tech High School in St. Louis.
