Campbell Believes Raiders Will Open Training Camp By Aug 1

Oakland Raiders quarterback Jason Campbell is expecting to be back at work in the very near future.

Campbell believes the Raiders will report to Napa for training camp on July 28 or Aug. 1 according to Paul Gutierrez of CSN Bay Area.

The start date would be depend on when the new collective bargaining agreement is reached.

The seventh-year quarterback is looking forward to the experience and is glad the team did not alter its location like others around the league.

“Napa has best weather for camp and plus it’s relaxing,” Campbell said.

Players would normally arrive for camp on July 27, but the lockout could throw off that date by a few days–not altogether bad given the 130-plus days of a locked out NFL.

Campbell and Richard Seymour have stood up as leaders for the team over the course of the offseason and led player organized workouts.

He is entering a contract year.
