Cecil Newton, brother of Cam Newton, was drafted by the Hartford Colonials.

Cam Newton wasn’t the only member of his family to have his name called in a pro football draft this week.

Cecil Newton Jr., brother of the top pick in this year’s NFL Draft, was selected by the Hartford Colonials with the No. 11 overall pick in the UFL Draft Monday night.

The 6-foot-2, 303-pound center has been on the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad since 2009 when he was signed as an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee State.

Newton Jr. was elevated to the Jaguars 53-man roster for the final two games of the 2009 season, but landed on the inactive list.

The Colonials used the top pick in the UFL Draft on Texas A&M quarterback Jerrod Johnson. Louisville OG Kurt Quarterman was also taken ahead of Newton Jr. by the team.
