The weekend turned out to be a special one for the Ravens wide receiver and his wife Dionne. On Sunday while the Ravens took on the Cleveland Browns the 8 year veteran caught his 700th career pass. Boldin notched the milestone in the third quarter with a 16-yard catch from quarterback Joe Flacco. Q, as he is refered to by many is just one of three players in the NFL who have reached 700 receptions in just 123 games.
Anquan who joined the Ravens in 2010 spent six years playing for the Arizona Cardinals complimenting receiver Larry Fitzgerald. Since Boldin’s arrival in Baltimore the hard-nosed receiver has caught 114 passes for 1,616 yards and 10 touchdowns. As a rookie Boldin set an NFL record for most receiving yards by a rookie in his first game (217), tied Billy Sims for most yards from scrimmage by a rookie in his first game (217), and holds the NFL record for most receptions in the first 26 games of an NFL career (157). He is also the fastest to record 300 career receptions (47 games) and finished the season with 101 catches and was the only rookie selected to the 2004 Pro Bowl.
Not to be outdone by Anquan but on Saturday evening the Ravens wide receiver’s wife Dionne held an evening of shopping and styling benefiting the Anquan Boldin Foundation at INTERMIX in Washington DC. Dionne who plays an active role in the Q81 Foundation stated “The best investment you can make is in people and the betterment of your community. We both grew up in underprivileged areas its just what we do, I have a heart to serve and we just get a lot of satisfaction out of giving back.” when asked about what her driving force is behind helping others.
The Anquan Boldin Foundation (Q81 Foundation) has a seven-year history of helping youth programs providing grants, donation of gifts, summer camps, dental programs, shopping sprees, and food programs. This past summer, the Q81 Foundation in partnership with Florida Crystals facilitated an eight-week summer enrichment camp for high school youth. Following these efforts, the Foundation has been granted the opportunity to deliver over 2,000 free life insurance policies to families who qualify. Boldin, who was awarded the 2010 Ravens’ Walter Payton May of the Year award, is also the honorary chair of the Emerging Leaders United (ELU) program of the United Way of Central Maryland.
