If you thought we were going to get on to Dallas Week and that everything was copacetic between Albert Haynesworth and the Washington Redskins, you were wrong.
The word is out that the Washington Redskins are talking to the Tennessee Titans about a trade for Haynesworth according to TitanInsider.
Evidently, the Titans might be willing to offer a mid round draft pick for him. The TitanInsider wrote that ESPN’s Chris Mortensen reported on the matter, saying that the Redskins are trying to gauge what the interest in Haynesworth is around the league.
ESPN has said that while the Titans are interested in Haynesworth, so far, the asking price is still too high. The Redskins reportedly want at least two draft picks for him.
It is no surprise that a Redskins spokesperson said that he was unaware of any trade discussions going on about the Pro Bowler.
The subject of Albert Haynesworth and Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan butting heads has been going on all spring and summer and most are aware of the issues.
Haynesworth skipped all of OTAs, all three mini-camps including a mandatory one and then came to training camp and could not pass a conditioning test that was required because he had not been present for at least 50 percent of off-season activities.
The report of the former Titan having a condition called rhabdomyolysis arose, which supposedly might have been responsible for some of the physical issues that Haynesworth exhibited. It seemed that this illness could have caused him to appear out of condition. However, he indicated to reporters that the coaching staff was not taking his problem seriously and called it “headaches” to make him look bad.
Since the big man passed the test and began practicing with the team, the situation has gone between being what appeared to be better – when Shanahan and Haynesworth shared a laugh after Haynesworth warned him of a football coming his way during a game; and tension, when reports surfaced that Shanahan was unhappy with the nose tackle’s lack of effort during the last preseason game against Arizona.
Yesterday after practice, Shanahan said that Haynesworth was working hard and doing fine.
Will one day go by that Haynesworth’s name is mentioned for something having to with a good play he made during a football game?
I’d like to say yes but I would never bet money on it.
