The Washington Redskins are expected to pursue free agent defensive end Julius Peppers according to Jason Reid of the Washington Post.
Peppers is reportedly seeking Albert Haynesworth money, but isn’t likely to see it. However, you can’t rule out a big pay check when it’s Daniel Snyder doing the signing.
With the Redskins switching to a 3-4 defense next season, Peppers could see time at outside linebacker while Haynesworth remains squarely entrenched on the line at nose tackle.
Meanwhile, the team is currently in contract negotiations with another defensive lineman in Phillip Daniels. The team feels the veteran player could be a valuable commodity in their revamped schemes.

Why not pay him more than Haynesworth? There is no salary cap binding them…pay it all up front and sign him to a 12 or 15 year deal. While they’re at it, resign Haynesworth and Hall signing bonus away all of there remaining salary this year. And QBs are so valuable, why not lock up Campbell for 12 years with a front loaded signing bonus and let him compete to be the #1? If the Redskins play this uncapped year properly, they can lock up success for the next decade. Whether these guys pan out or not would be unimportant if they have extremely low cap numbers by 2011 or 2012…Snyder might as well build his brand with all of that money we’ve been putting in his pockets over the last decade.
