Lee Vickers went from the NFL to the UFL Sunday by signing with the Nighthawks
The Omaha Nighthawks are quickly becoming the UFL’s version of the New York Yankees.
It’s obvious that owner Zach Nelson wants to win the championship this season and isn’t afraid to pay for it.
His latest acquisition: former Washington Redskins tight end Lee Vickers who was among the team’s roster casualties last weekend as they trimmed to 53 players.
To make room for him on the roster, the Nighthawks waived offensive guard Fred Matua from USC.
Nelson and the Nighthawks made big splashes among the media with three big signings this offseason, led by quarterback Jeff Garcia.
The team also signed former Green Bay Packers running back Ahman Green and most recently former Ohio State standout Maurice Clarett.
