Chad Ochocinco's tweets cost him $25,000.

Chad Ochocinco was slapped with a $25,000 fine for violating two league rules during the Cincinnati Bengals’ preseason game Aug. 20 against the Philadelphia Eagles, according to ESPN.com.

Possessing an electronic device and posting updates on Twitter broke league rules and led to the wide receiver’s fine.

NFL rules state that players may not be in possession of an electronic device during a game, and they are banned from posting messages on social media sites 90 minutes before game time and until they have finished post-game media interviews.

No. 85 tweeted two messages during Cincinnati’s third preseason game. His first tweet was posted at 6:50 p.m. ET (approximately 77 minutes before kickoff), followed by his game time tweet at 9:53 p.m. ET.

In his Twitter apology, Ochocinco apologized to the NFL saying, “Dear NFL I apologize for tweeting during the game but that was 2 monthsof my Bugatti payments you just took from me,I won’t do it again.”
