Patriots star QB Tom Brady was in a two-car accident early Thursday morning in the Back Bay neighborhood of Boston, but walked away from the crash uninjured.
At 6:43 a.m., Brady’s Audi sedan collided with a passenger van at the cross-section of Commonwealth Ave. and Gloucester Street. The 33-year-old quarterback did not require medical attention, as he walked away from the accident and was later picked up and taken to Gillette Stadium by someone in a Jeep Cherokee, the Boston Globe reports.
A witness, who said it took “a while to realize it was [Brady,]” said the 3-time Super Bowl MVP appeared “a little shook up” and was “shaking his hands” following the collision.
A male passenger in the other car had to be extricated from the vehicle with the Jaws of Life and was taken to Brigham and Women’s Hospital. The man’s initial condition looked “pretty bad”, a source said, as he was reportedly lying unconscious in the back of the van before he was transported away for treatment.
Brady has been the focal point of the sports media both in Boston and nationally this week and he and the team are close to finalizing a contract extension that will likely make him the richest quarterback in the NFL. The two sides have not yet agreed to terms, but are hoping to do so before the start of the season.
The Patriots open Week 1 in Foxboro against the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.
