Todd Collins declined the opportunity to join the Chicago Bears.
The third time proved not to be the charm for the Chicago Bears in trying to sign a backup quarterback.
Todd Collins became the third man to turn down the job according to Jason La Canfora of the NFL Network. Fellow veterans Trent Green and Damon Huard previously declined the Bears offer.
“We declined their offer based on the fact there were no guarantees involved,” Collins’ agent Brad Blank said, per Gregg Rosenthal at PFT.
While the search continues, we wonder whether Jeff Garcia will at least call the team before signing his contract with the UFL’s Omaha Nighthawks.
The problem, which I touched on last night, is that the position could only be for the short-term and the veteran may not make it out of training camp without a pink slip.
