Tennessee Titans wide receiver Kenny Britt paid an exorbitant amount of money to bail a friend out of jail on gun charges.

Britt posted $165,000 bail to free his friend, rapper Albert “Albee Al” Robinson, who is facing charges of hindering the prosecution and possession of a firearm in connection with a murder.

The alleged incident occurred in Jersey City in December.

Titans officials were apparently caught off guard when Jim Hague of the Hudson Reporter asked them for comment. They did not have knowledge that Britt’s actions prior to then.

According to Hague, the NFL is likely to frown on Britt’s decision to post bail when such serious charges are pending.

“In our society, people are judged by the company they keep,” said Hudson County Prosecutor Edward DeFazio who will represent the people in the case. “It’s clear that there is a long-standing relationship between the defendant and Mr. Britt. But these charges against the defendant are very serious, one being a homicide-related incident. You can easily see what the guy is all about. A victim was shot to death in Jersey City.”

Britt was recently arrested on outstanding traffic warrants.
