Myron Rolle took a year off from collegiate football in order to study at Oxford University, but he’s not ready to quit professional football just yet.
“Football is not out of my system. I am glad I made the decision to turn back to football after taking a year. This experience has been tremendous,” said Rolle. “I have enjoyed learning from the veterans and competing, and challenging myself every day, knowing that I have to go out on the field every day and prove my worth and prove that I can be a significant member of this team.”
Rolle said that he has enjoyed the chance to work his way up on Tennessee’s squad.
“That is something that I didn’t experience in college. In college I was a number one player in high school, came in and started right away as a true freshman and didn’t really look back after that. Here I started at the bottom looking up and you get to admire some of these older guys and you also get to compare and compete as well and that has been a lot of fun.’’
Tonight’s game is his last chance to prove to the Titans that he is worthy to receive a coveted spot on the active roster, but Rolle refuses to be stressed by it.
“I stay sane by reading my Bible and putting things in God’s hands. He has taken care of me for 23 years and hopefully He’ll do the same this week. That’s the way you have to approach it. If you don’t, you’ll drive yourself crazy and you won’t be able to sleep at night and you won’t perform when it is time to.”
