There are reports that Jets CB Darelle Revis will sign sometime this week, although ESPN's Adam Schefter has dispute the rumor.
A crossfire of information is flying between the Twitter accounts of Dallas Morning News sportswriter Tim Cowlishaw and ESPN’s Adam Schefter regarding the contract status of Jets star CB Darelle Revis.
Cowlishaw, a regular panelist on ESPN’s Around the Horn, wrote earlier today that he had “inside information” that Revis and the Jets agreed to terms and would announce a new deal on Wednesday. Schefter hopped on his Twitter a half-hour later, writing, “In my opinion, no. Not true. A deal by Weds would surprise me.”
Cowlishaw responded with a couple more fan replys, saying in one, “I was told they will announce it this week, not def wednesday but probably wednesday. This person has never been wrong.”
Revis has been absent from Jets camp all summer in a contract dispute with the team, as the reigning AFC Defensive Player of the Year looks to become the highest-paid CB in the league. Dolphins WR Brandon Marshall said earlier this week that he wants to see Revis return to the team and he might just get his wish.
The Revis-less Jets’ defense looked strong in last night, holding the Panthers to only 175 total yards in the team’s 9-3 win. The team will return home before they face off with the Redskins at the Meadowlands on Friday.
