Miami Dolphins wide receiver Brandon Marshall’s stats should see a big jump with Tyler Thigpen now under center.
According to the Sun Sentinel‘s Omar Kelly, Thigpen’s penchant to throw the ball deep will click better with Marshall’s improvisational route running that it did with Chad Henne’s more conservative approach.
It shouldn’t be too hard for Marshall to improve his recent numbers. The 26-year-old has not caught a TD pass in over a month and a half and has recorded only 64 yards in his last two games. His 30 yards on five catches in Week 9 and his 34 yards on three catches on Sunday marked his two-lowest single game receiving totals of the season.
After recording a career-high 10 TDs in 2009, Marshall only has one TD through nine games this year.
“We are in that part of the season where we are all trying to make plays and it hasn’t happened down there for me yet,” Marshall said. “Any moment I can have a big game. I am not worried about it right now. Just trying to continue to push.”
Marshall admitted that Thigpen brings a different style to the Dolphins offense that might prove more effective.
“I like Tyler,” he said. “He definitely plays the game differently than the other two guys [Chad Pennington and Chad Henne]. I think he is a guy that is more than capable of making plays for us.”
