The Denver Broncos granted the Houston Texans permission to interview offensive line coach Rick Dennison for their vacant offensive coordinator position.
Former Texans offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan left the team to join the Washington Redskins in the same capacity and work with his father, Mike Shanahan.
Not that long ago Mike Shanahan wanted to interview Broncos running back coach Bobby Turner, but was denied.
Mike Florio of PFT speculates that the Broncos may have been trying to save face and not look foolish for letting Shanahan go should he find success in Washington.
Per league rules, a team can block any coach under contract from interviewing for any job other than head coach.

I’m always wary when a team allows a key coach to interview with other teams. Either they have no choice, do not think the coach is any good, or have someone better lined up IMO.
Now the true question is whether Kyle Shanahan or Gary Kubiak was running the Offense in Houston. With a very good offense, Houston Texans have a very optimistic outlook for the 2010 NFL playoff picture.
Also, is Rick Dennison just a mediocre coach as evidenced by the offensive ineptness of the 2009 Denver Broncos offense. Or, will he be able to pick up right where the apparent Boy Genius Kyle Shanahan left off? Please be even better than Kyle!!!!
