Peyton Manning
The New Orleans Saints trail the Indianapolis Colts 10-0 after the first quarter of play at Super Bowl XLIV in Miami.
New Orleans won the coin toss on an errant flip by Emmitt Smith, but went three and out on their first possession. Their second faired little better, earning they earned their only first down of the first quarter.
Perhaps it is a “we’ve been here before” mentality that enabled the Colts to establish themselves as the team to beat early in the game.
Peyton Manning led the Colts on a 96-yard touchdown drive on their second possession that was capped off with a 19-yard toss to Pierre Garcon. It tied the record for longest touchdown drive in Super Bowl history.
Statistically, Indianapolis is dominating virtually every category. They have eight first downs, compared to one for New Orleans.
Indy also dominated the time of possession in the first quarter, holding the ball 10:29.
