Steve McNair Murder Case Will Remain Closed

The murder case of Steve McNair will remain closed.

A three-member grand jury panel did not find sufficient evidence to reopen the case of former Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Ravens quarterback Steve McNair’s death on Thursday.

Former Nashville police officer Vince Hill had been trying to get the case reopened after disputing the original ruling that McNair was murdered by his girlfriend who then shot herself.

“Win, lose or draw, it’s historic to just get it at that stage,” Hill told Elizabeth Merrill of ESPN.com. “Obviously, they thought there was something worth hearing just to even listen to the case.

“I would say that it’s not over at this point.”

Some speculate that a third party was involved in what was ruled a murder-suicide. McNair’s girlfriend, Sahel Kazemi, bought the gun used in the shooting from a convicted killer who said he barely knew her.

It would later come to light that the pair exchanged 49 calls and text messages on the day before the shooting.
