Matt Stewart

Matt Stewart signed a one-year deal with Pittsburgh today.

Long snapper/linebacker Matt Stewart re-signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers’ preseason roster today.  Stewart signed a contract for one-year, but financial aspects of the deal were not made public.

Stewart has been and hot and cold with the Steelers this offseason, signing with Pittsburgh as a free agent June 7, and being released July 30, before signing his one-year contract today.

The Vanderbilt alum was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the fourth-round of the 2001 NFL Draft. Stewart spent four seasons on the Falcons’ roster before moving to Cleveland for the 2005-07 seasons. In 2008, the veteran LB spent training camp with the Arizona Cardinals and was subsequently released, then made his way to the Dallas Cowboys for the 2009 training camp and was released again.

Stewart has recorded 355 tackles and eight sacks during his professional career.

The Steelers released first-year wide receiver Isaiah Williams to acquire Stewart.
