Steelers Sign Stewart to Handle Long Snapping Duties

Matt Stewart

Matt Stewart has a new home in Pittsburgh.

The Pittsburgh Steelers signed veteran linebacker and long snapper Matt Stewart to a one-year deal on Tuesday.

Stewart has not played a down in the regular season since 2006 when he was with the Cleveland Browns.

Listed at 6-foot-3 and 236 pounds, he was selected in the fourth-round of the 2001 NFL Draft by the Atlanta Falcons out of Vanderbilt.

Stewart attended the Arizona Cardinals training camp in 2008 as well as the Dallas Cowboys camp in 2009, but was cut prior to the regular season.

The Steelers made room for Stewart by releasing Jarad Retkofsky last week.

Greg Warren, who is the regular long snapper, has been laid up with a torn ACL since December.
