The Pittsburgh Steelers have chosen four players to act as team captains. The offense will have two captains and the defense and special teams units will have one each.
Wide receiver Hines Ward will enter his six consecutive captaincy while tight end Heath Miller will enter his first year as captain.
Ward’s consistency was seen not only in his role as a team leader, but also on the field. The thirteenth year veteran has spent his entire career with the Steelers and is coming off of his franchise leading sixth 1,000 yard receiving year.
Miller’s first year as captain follows his first appearance in the Pro-bowl.
The sole defensive captain, inside linebacker James Farrior is serving as captain for the seventh successive season.
Linebacker Keyaron Fox will succeed former captain Jeff Reed.
