Special Teams Coverage and Penalties Plague Raiders

Tom Cable

Poor special teams coverage and pentalties stood out to Tom Cable

While Tom Cable is a fan of his quarterbacks, the same cannot be said for certain aspects of the Oakland Raiders special teams unit.

Head coach was disappointed in kick return coverage after they gave up the second return for a touchdown this preseason Thursday against the Seattle Seahawks.

“You know, there’s no way that’s acceptable,” Cable said following the team’s 27-24 win Thursday night. “We’ve given up two returns for touchdowns in the preseason.”

The coach’s other concern of the night was penalties.

“The penalties.. we had 11 of them,” he said.

“Up until tonight I wasn’t really worried or had much concern with penalties. I felt like our discipline was really moving in the right direction.”
