Mike Shanahan has given the assistant coaches of the Washington Redskins the weekend off, but is scheduled to meet with them once again on Monday.
It appears that one of the interviews will be an exit interview rather than a job interview according to Jason Reid of the Washington Post.
Stump Mitchell, the team’s running back’s coach, is expected to leave the NFL to become the next head coach at Southern University.
Though he cannot technically accept the job offer yet, he did make his plans very clear to the Baton Rouge Advocate.
“(Y)ou can tell [Southern's] Board of Supervisors that I will see them Wednesday,” Mitchell told the paper. “I will be in Baton Rouge on Wednesday.”
Coach Shanahan met with his assistants on Thursday before returning to Denver, likely to begin the moving process.
