Seahawks Release Adrian Peterson and Alvin Bowen, Sign Kicker

Adrian Peterson was shown the door by the Seahawks Tuesday afternoon.

The Seattle Seahawks announced the release of running back Adrian Peterson (not that Adrian Peterson) Tuesday afternoon.

The 31-year-old was dropped in order to make room for Kentwan Balmer, whom they acquired from the the San Francisco 49ers on Monday.

In addition, the Seahawks also released linebacker Alvin Bowen and signed kicker Clint Stitser.

Stitser has been out of football for the past two years after a four year collegiate stint with Fresno State. He was most recently with the New York Jets.

Peterson signed with the club less than a week ago on Aug. 12 whil Bowen signed Aug. 7.
