Seahawks Lose Okung to Ankle Injury, Could Miss Start of Season

Russell Okung

Russell Okung could miss four to six weeks with a high ankle sprain.

The Seattle Seahawks lost more than just a preseason game Saturday night against the Green Bay Packers.

The team also lost first-round draft choice Russell Okung to a what could be a high ankle sprain.

The left tackle, selected No. 6 overall in April’s draft, suffered the injured during the first quarter of the game.

“It’s a legitimate ankle sprain,” head coach Pete Carroll said, per the Seattle Times. “So we’ll see how it goes.”

When asked whether it could be a high-ankle sprain Carroll said, “It may be. We don’t know that right now.”

Okung is scheduled to undergo an MRI Sunday to determine the severity of the injury.

Typical recovery time for a high ankle sprain is four to six weeks, which would rule him out for the start of the regular season.
